New beginnings

Hey there! Are you new here? Oh! So am I! My name is Sergio. Welcome to my new digital home. After a few years at my beloved v2, I felt it was time for a change. I decided to relocate to v3 but did not feel quite at home, so after a few months, I decided to move out and come here! I hope you are as cosy as I am.

If you’ve been to my previous homes, you’ll recognise the same furniture: there’s the chair of injection-moulded stress, and there’s the dining table made from reclaimed creativity. That is, of course, the same lamp. Yes, 60-watt optimism. Oh, and let’s not forget the sofa I got off Facebook Marketplace, yes it’s second-hand, but treated with love and care.

This is the 4^th iteration of my personal website, where I have introduced a few new rooms: my first-ever portfolio, and blog. You might be thinking: why password-protect my portfolio? And that’s okay, I need to keep some case studies hidden as they haven’t reached the public domain yet.

Here are some technologies I’ve made good use of here:

Next.js 14 (App Router) because why not, it’s built on React and server components are great.
CSS modules to keep my application as lightweight as possible.
NextAuth.js to password-protect my portfolio route.
next-mdx-remote to keep my focus on writing when blogging.
sugar-high used to syntax highlight my more technical blogs and case studies.

As well as this, you might also notice native theme handling at the system-level, to keep that minimal feel, whilst still following your preferences. On a less technical but more important note, I'm committed to ensuring my builds are accessible. As a result, I welcome any feedback that highlights areas where my work may fall short.
